Acrylic Carton Sealing Tape (also known as pressure-sensitive tape, packing tape, clear packaging tape) is best suited for reliable, all-temperature box sealing performance (less than 40°F and greater than 120°F) where resistance to aging, weathering, UV light and yellowing are important. They also provide excellent clarity, high shear strength to prevent “flagging”, superior quick stick performance and controlled unwind to facilitate dispensing on manual or automatic case sealing machines.
With hot melt carton sealing tapes, a thermoplastic adhesive, also known as hot glue, provides a significantly higher adhesion in comparison to an acrylic tape. This style of tape can be used either manually (with a tape gun) or through autuomated application via a carton sealing machine.
Natural Rubber Carton Sealing Tape
Consider a natural rubber carton sealing tape when you need a tape that quickly forms a strong bond, in situations when case sealing on an irregular surfaces, in environments with high humidity, or in extreme temperatures of 0-150 degrees. Rubber based products grab very aggressively initially and are well-suited for long-term packaging applications.
